i like mine just fine for "ordinary" santas , they can hide a bunch thou.the tank to me seems a little more vertical than what i would use for tris , so i think more of pums or vents i cant really say immis cause i havent kept them.personality wise id say pums hands down.

I need to add more leaf litter I think.

Anyone have any experience with R. uakarii? I'm wondering how they might do in this tank. Al?

Seems to me in my inquiries to Mark about this one that these guys are more terrestrial frogs than arboreal and also enjoy a good layer of leaf litter. Males are supposed to be terrestrial, like reticulatus, but somewhat less so. I think the young are not as vulnerable as they are with reticulatus also.

On another note, and I may be biased this way, I'm always down for talking imi's up as good choices! ;)

Ross.

Thanks for the info Ross.

That's what I've discovered too after doing a bit of reading - they are more terrestrial frogs. Hm.

I'm certainly open to imi's, but I'd like to try to get something not already in someone's collection - just to add to which frogs will eventually be available on this side of the country. You've got the Taras, I think there are a couple of folks with Veradero's, I'm already on a waiting list for Chazuta, the nominals aren't available at the moment....so that leaves Yumbatos. :-w

Mystery frog? lol.

I guess I should clarify - I'm always going to keep what I like - that's rule number one. But I'm also looking at different frogs with an eye to what is not available LOCALLY. If I'm going to have something shipped from back east, I might as well try for something not well represented on the West coast. :frog:

Had a small leak in the front insert in this tank that required breaking it down to repair. After I added a BUNCH of leaf litter (bamboo) I set it back up in a slightly different configuration. Have a look:

Heya,

Just wondering where you got the bamboo leaves from, I love using this as leaf litter for PDF's, pumilio in particular love it. In Europe a company Namiba Terra ( http://www.namibaterra.de/de/index.html ) sells it dry in bags (as well as other pretty cool stuff for viv's, including compressed peat panels which are great laid on top of LECA as it doesn't break apart easily, can't find anything similar here :( ) would love to find a source in Canada.

Hey there - sorry I missed the last reply Dendromad. Bamboo leaves are from the plants around my apartment parking lot. Feel free to swing by and grab some!

Just a quick update on the tank - I have decided on a trio of R. imitator 'Yumbatos' from UE. They will be arriving hopefully before the end of the month.

ok, what exactly is epiweb? Coconut fibre sheets or something more man made?

I love the Viv.

The wood is likely Mopani if it is heavy and very hard. It holds up in Aquariums for a very long time, very durable.

And for the third time, I had to break this tank down...

This time it was to install a drain bulkhead and to incorporate one of the larger broms I picked up after some folks suggested that I would have a hard time getting the imis to breed with just mini broms in the tank.

So without further ado - here are the FINAL pics of this tank before the frogs go in a couple weeks.
