Hognose Hatching!

    After a swift 45 day incubation, I was happy to see little faces starting to pip 36hrs ago.
    By tonight, they should all be out of their eggs and squirming around. :)

    that is awesome
    We occasionally see the hognose at our cottage...easily mistaken for the Massasauga Rattler

    You are likely seeing Eastern Hognose, which are one of my all-time favorites. They are protected though, so no luck in keeping them in captivity.

    fair enough...they also have been known to play dead when their cover is blown and the feel like they may become prey...No one like to eat dead food!!

    Haha,

    Yeah they are funny that way. One of my hatchlings played possum during watering the other day. Too cute! I like how they hood up like cobras and false strike - so full of piss and vinegar!
